Ester Nicholson Keynote at Tacoma Dome
January 16, 2012 (Tacoma, Washington) - Singer and "Recovery Coach," Ester Nicholson delivered the keynote address for the city's official Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration earier today at the Tacoma Dome. Speaking powerfully on the subject of forgiveness as a path to political and social change, she invited the crowd of over 3000 to engage in a process of self-healing and self-realization.
Ms Nicholson, a noted singer, radio host, author and former addict, associated MLK's nonviolent approach to a process of forgiving "those who have treated us with hate," in order to realize health and wholeness in "ourselves, our families, our communities and the world."
"Forgiveness is a process. Dr. King didn't do this because it was easy," Ms Nicholson stated, "he did it because he knew that by anchoring in this extraordinary power that it was possible."
"We are standing at a 'recovery moment' in our history," she went on to say, outlining that self healing and self forgiveness must precede "rebuilding" in Lybia, Iraq or Afganistan.
